Sitges is blessed with a climate that means the sun shines throughout the year, it is the jewel in the Spanish crown and Sitges has something for every taste. From the exciting outrageous Mardi Gras Carnaval, tango festivals, extravagant firework displays to parties on the beach.... there is never a shortage of something to do! We have listed the key events below on a month by month basis, but there are many, many more events too numerous to list.

January 2010

The three Kings parade - Jan 5th - 18:00

Celebrate Christmas all over again. A procession of colourful floats accompanied by military bands and drumming musicians in medieval costumes continues after the kings. If you have been good you might receive a shower of sweets, if you have been bad you may receive coal (made from sugar) or turds (made from fig paste) instead.

February 2010

Sitges Carnaval - 11th to the 19th

Carnival has to be Sitges\' wildest party. Even though it is on in February it is still the hottest party in town! On the most popular days you will find more than 300,000 partygoers dancing on the major streets across the town. The busy months of July and August look positively dead! Boys and girls from the 4 corners of the world descend on our little town and party the week away!

Tuesday, the final day of carnival, also sees some amazing drag shows. Think you have seen it all... you haven\'t! Some of Europe\'s top drag performers make their way to Sitges to bitch-battle it out with each other to the great amusements of the revellers.

March 2010

Barcelona to Sitges Vintage Car Rally - Date TBA

The cars and the fashions of the 1920\'s... this is a race with a difference. Starting in Barcelona and finishing in Sitges the vintage rally is a firm favourite every year.

The International Bears\' meeting is set to be even bigger and better this year with events planned throughout the weekend.

June 2010

Corpus Christi - June 2010

The town of Sitges celebrates Corpus Christi every year with style! Sections of the major streets are closed to traffic for at least 24 hours when intricate templates are drawn on the road. Neighbours from each street gather into the small hours of morning, plucking the petals off Carnation flowers. These petals are then placed on the patterns on the road. The transformation is amazing. It has to be seen to be believed.

San Juan - National Holiday – June date TBA

With fireworks and cava flowing through the streets of every town in the province, the celebration marks the true start of Summer for the Catalans. In Sitges, it is also the time where every night feels like a Saturday night... season is well underway and the days and nights start to get even hotter.

The view over the mountains towards Barcelona is truly spectacular as you watch the fireworks explode all down the Costa Garraf.

July 2010

Annual Tango Festival – July date TBA

Tango dancers from all over the world will enjoy the tango cadence in the warm Mediterranean ambience, lessons and displays on the beach and on the streets of Sitges continue throughout the night. The Sitges Tango festival has become the indisputable summer appointment for tango lovers.

GAY PRIDE SITGES 9-10-11 - JULY02010

For the first time Sitges plays host to Gay Pride, with the street parade on 10July2010 this will be a Pride to remember

August 2010

Fiesta Mayor – End of August Dates TBA

Fiesta Mayor is one of Sitges greatest festivals and brings together the best of Catalan culture with an unbelievable party atmosphere! It is electric.

Fiesta Mayor includes, dance, music, and parades, for all to enjoy -from childrens fancy dress parades to the large dragon that paroles the streets with fireworks exploding right left and centre from the dragon´s mouth.

The firework display later in the evening from the walls of the church rivals any you may have seen elsewhere.

The acrobatics in the street are superb with Castellers climbing 4 stories high (that’s 6 people high), with a small child at the very top. People gather around them to form a human safety net. Sometimes they fall, but most of the time they perform spectacular shows that will take your breath away.

Legend Party – August 2010 – date TBA

The Legend Party is the ultimate girls´ fiesta in Sitges... and is one of Europes most anticipated events every year. This year\'s event takes place on the of August at the stunning open air club Disco L\'Atlantida, situated on the beach. International artistes and dancers make it an event not to be missed.

Concerts at Midnight – August 2010 - dates TBA

This international music festival is held around Sitges in some of the most spectacular settings. Combined with the magic of the music occuring under a moonlight sky, it is probably one of the most cultured and romantic events you can attend in Sitges.

Sitges Wine Festival – 2nd/3rd Week September -Dates TBA

The end of the Summer is marked by the harvesting of the wine grapes and gives us another reason to have a mini-fiesta.

Grape treading and barrel carrying contests recall the essence of grape harvest origins when wine making was a festival for family and friends to participate in

Another Bears Event – Dates TBA

The Bears are leaving the woods behind and coming to the beaches of Sitges in September for what has become an annual pilgrimage for many.

Fiesta Lola - Dates TBA

Fiesta Lola is set to become the hottest End-of-Summer Party at Privilege, brought to you by the lovely girls at MaryPili...... just for girls!

Santa Tecla - Normally 3rd Week in September

This festival is a smaller version of the Fiesta Mayor! It is a big event for Sitgeans with Church of Santa Tecla forming a backdrop to the key events.

Expect lots of fireworks and more of those crazy Castellers as they make taller and taller human towers. All the while mythical Catalan characters dance their way through the town in a full traditional folkloric procession which includes the Bull, Dragon, Devil and Giants.

October 2010

International Sci Fi and Horror Film Festival – Dates TBA

Every October, Sitges turns into a mini Cannes, with most of the worlds major studios exhibiting their films for 2010

Born in 1968 as the 1st International Week of Fantasy and Horror Movies, today the Festival is an essential rendezvous for movie lovers and audiences eager to come into contact with new technologies applied to film and the audiovisual world.

Sitges Gourmet Food Festival – Second Week in October TBA

The Menjar de Tast is the annual gastronomy and wine festival held to celebrate the end of the grape harvest. The event normally lasts all weekend. People are encouraged to walk around the village, visit restaurants, and try any number of local specialties on offer. All the local restaurants participate and try to out-do each other.

MARCH 2011

2011 CARNIVAL SITGES 3RD MARCH SEES THE ARRIVAL OF THE KING

Carnival is one of the best times to visit Sitges. The two main days are Sunday 6th March when the “Rua de la Disbauxa”, or the Debauchery Parade takes place and then the 8th when it\'s the \"Rua de l‘Extermini”or Extermination Parade. There will be about forty floats crowded with beautiful people dressed for fun parading around the streets of Sitges. The majority of Sitgeans dress up in whatever costume thought appropriate or even inappropriate and party through the night! Come and join us.
