The Sitges Carnival is one of the most important celebrations in Catalonia and is recognized worldwide. From February 27 to March 5, 2025, the streets of Sitges will be filled with joy, parades, and nights of festivities.
Thursday, February 27 marks the beginning of the carnival with a series of events and activities. At 7:15 PM, the arrival of His Majesty King Carnestoltes is expected at the Plaza de la Fragata, followed by a small parade through Fragata, Paseo de la Ribera, Bonaire, Parellades, Cap de la Vila, Major, and the Town Hall.
On Saturday, March 1, at 12:00 PM, the bed race will take place starting from the Casino Prado entrance, passing through the streets of Francesc Gumà, Jesús, Cap de la Vila, Parellades, Sant Pau, Paseo de la Ribera, Sant Pere, Parellades, Bonaire, and Paseo de la Ribera, ending at the height of the swings. After the race, the winning groups will be awarded. A highly anticipated event for the locals is the Ball del Fardo, held at 3:30 PM in the Gardens of the Societat Recreativa El Retiro. “La Banda del Fardo,” a local tribute band created for the occasion, will take us on a journey with their music, carnival hits, and satire. There will also be local DJs playing music for all tastes. While the capacity is limited, admission is free.
On Sunday, March 2, Sitges will be transformed with two spectacular parades. At 12:00 PM, the little ones will take to the streets in the children’s parade, showcasing their creativity with charming and imaginative costumes. Later, at 7:30 PM, the adult parade will light up the night with an explosion of music, lights, and dazzling costumes. These parades will go through the main streets of Sitges, including Passeig de la Ribera, Carrer de les Parellades, and Carrer Major.

On Tuesday, March 4, the parades will be repeated, starting with the children’s parade at 12:00 PM and followed by the adult parade at 9:00 PM. The energy and enthusiasm of the participants and spectators are contagious, making each parade a unique and memorable experience. The parade route will again pass through Passeig de la Ribera, Carrer de les Parellades, and Carrer Major, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the festivities.
Finally, on Wednesday, March 5, the traditional Burial of His Majesty King Carnestoltes will take place, symbolizing the end of the carnival. This funeral rite, full of symbolism and tradition, provides a fitting farewell to the days of revelry and festivity. Participants will gather at Plaça de l’Ajuntament before beginning the procession through the historic town center.

During these days, the parade routes will pass through Sitges’ main streets, filling every corner of the city with music, dance, and laughter. From the coast to the old town, every corner of Sitges becomes a stage for this unique celebration.
